The Time Has Come

topic posted Sun, April 29, 2007 - 1:24 PM by  Pak Hanafi
OK.. C'mon. Let's get Tribe(al). The weather is with us. Can we actually pull off getting together to drum a bit somewhere outside? Nothing too ambitious. Just meet up some late afternoon while its still light or weekend afternoon at Gasworks, Golden Gardens, Bel Square, Fremont firepit, ..anywhere, somewhere!

Talk to me.

I like Gasworks on weekend afternoons & the firepit for night times. Anyone know if the firepit circle is still going on Friday nights? Haven't been there in a while. Also, Woodland park can be nice. Just got a new set of dununs & need to break them in!

Seems the firepit thing happens pretty regularly although I haven't been to much during the winter!

I like Gasworks & Woodland Park too.

      Who? When?

      More than just us chickens?

OK, now the time has really come! It's hot & sunny, my dunduns still haven't been properly broken in yet....

I'll be down at Gasworks on Sunday 3-6 pm with as many drums as I can carry, plus some bells, shakers, etc. Please come join me! Invite anyone else who would want to be there.

(Note: I have a bias toward traditional West African rhythms, because that's what I love & have spent time learning, but I'm not too militant about it. I'm happy play other styles or just make shit up in the moment when the vibe is right. I'm also happy to teach anything I know to anyone at anytime, so if you wanna learn some new licks, I'm here to serve. :) )

    Hey all!

Can we make GasWorks on Sundays @ 3pm a regular time?

...even though I can't make the 24th and the 1st (I'll be out making my own drum *swoon* too cool for words)

Can we make ANYTHING regular? Build it, I will come!

    Peace
    Catalyst

Sounds good to me, Catalyst, weather- & schedule-permitting. The longterm weather forecasts I've seen are predicting this Sunday to be the worst weather of the coming week -- rain, cold, drum unfriendly. Let's hope the meteorological soothsayers are wrong. If so, I'll be there, playing the best sunshine rhythms & songs I know (or can make up...)

The time has come once again: the weather's nice & Gasworks Park is calling out for drummers! I'll be there 3-6pm with my drums Sunday (tomorrow) - come on down & let's make some joyful noise!

Another sunny Sunday is almost here -- anyone up for drumming at Gasworks starting around 3pm?

OK.. I'm REALLY going to try to get there this time!
I thought you were going to be drumming at the warehouse thing last night. I was looking forward to doing that with you.

Will we have something to sit on because I can't sit on the ground and drum....

I am planning to be there... my partner needs sun and I need to drum... it's gonna be a beautiful thing!

Stop by Fred Meyer's and buy a little canvas picnic stool. $6 maybe? They fold up and are great for keeping off the wet grass or sitting at the right height.

Lots of different drumm groups have been meeting at Gas works on Sun. plus a group of fire dancers(sans fire). We`ve been playing african, middleeastern and cuban. The summer travel schedule is tight but I go every chance I get. As drummers lets get tight before winter and everyone disappears.
